Reading FC striker Lucas Joao has been named in the EFL Team of the Week.
Using WhoScored ratings, Joao was awarded Man of the Match in both of the fixtures against Sheffield United and Swansea City- a feat he even managed in the previous week’s 1-2 defeat to Cardiff City.
His goal against the Blades, twinned with his brace and assist against the Swans, has seen him pick up scores of 7.83 and 9.34 respectively.
An average rating of 8.56 was enough to see him earn a spot in the Football League’s Team of the Week.

Injured fairly regularly this season, the Angola international has only played 18 times this season, chipping in with 10 goals and three assists.
Since arriving in 2019, Joao has contributed 38 goals and 14 assists at an average of one every 115 minutes- the most out of any Royals player this century.
Other Championship players in the Team of the Week include Peterborough United pair Dai Cornell and Frankie Kent, Fulham trio Aleksander Mitrovic, Joe Bryan and Fabio Carvalho and Blackpool pair Kenny Dougall and Jake Beesley.
Lucas João has been directly involved in a goal every 115 minutes across his Reading career (38 goals, 14 assists); the best rate of any Reading player this century (min. 15 G+A).

That is a ridiculous output from a sensational player 👏 #readingfc pic.twitter.com/CbhUqXXtWf
It is the first time a Reading player has been included in the Team of the Week since Joao himself appeared after earning another Man of the Match and three goal contributions against Preston North End in February.
