As the famous song goes from that season, "to reach the unreachable star, this is my quest."

On Saturday, May 30, the world felt like it had come crashing down on the large town in Berkshire, with almost 40,000 Royals slumping back to Reading after yet another play-off heartbreak.

Little did we know that this group, along with a few key additions, would go on to make it one of the most memorable seasons in the club's 150 years within just 12 months.

Yes, it started slowly, and yes there was a spell where it looked like it wasn't going to happen- but this group believed.

After an incredible run of 15 wins in the final 17, they did it! Exactly 10 years ago today, Brian McDermott and his men brought the Championship title back to RG2.

It wasn't quite as euphoric as the Mikele Leigertwood goal a few days previously, but the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace ensured the team were going up as champions- very worthy champions.

So sit back, pour yourself a cup of tea, and delve back a decade to better times.
