FAMILIES across Earley came together for a big Easter spring clean up and it was a huge success.

More than 60 residents helped fill huge bags of litter around Earley town with Mcdonald's staff providing an extra pair of hands collecting rubbsih around the restaurant.

It comes as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean, organised by Earley Adopt-a-Street Initiative (EASI) and the Earley Environmental Group.

Earley Town Council thanked each and every person for helping collect litter on Sunday, April 3.

A spokesman from the Town council said: "This year the event aimed to cover a large part of the town and had leaders starting in different points with sessions in both the morning and afternoon.

"It was gratifying to see just how many residents joined in, including whole families with young children, all up for picking up litter.  There were over sixty for just the morning session- a record turnout!

"Numbers were swelled by attendance from some of our newest residents from Hong Kong.  McDonalds also provided extra support with their staff who collected litter from a wide radius around the restaurant.

"A huge thank you to everyone for helping keep Earley a litter free zone."
