Reading FC Women’s striker, Emma Harries, is set for a long spell on the side-line after rupturing her posterior cruciate ligaments.

The England Under-23s forward damaged her PCL against the Netherlands on Tuesday and will now be out for an “extended period.”

The 20-year-old has been with the Royals since 2010, making her senior debut in 2020. She has since gone on to play more than 35 times for Kelly Chambers’ side.

Harries has been selected for every international age group and was the vice-captain of the Lionesses Under 19 team.

Speaking after the injury, Harries said: “"I am absolutely gutted to have gotten this injury at this point of the season, but I'll make sure that I am better than ever when I can finally return. I want to thank my family, parter, players and staff for their ongoing support and care."

She has played 19 times for the mid-table Royals this season, gaining six goal contributions- her highest career tally for a season.
