A pathway in Woodford Park will be shut while a new play area is installed, Woodley Town Council have announced.

The route from Oakwood Centre to the lake will be closed Monday to Friday, but still open at weekends, so residents have been advised to use the path from Coronation Hall instead.

The new play area, which will replace the existing one to the rear of the Oakwood Centre, has been designed with ‘inclusivity’ in mind, which the council has said "will offer a stimulating, exciting play experience for children of all abilities.”

It will include a double cableway, a sensory area, a wheelchair accessible play mound, an agility trail, a 7m tall canopy trail and seven types of swings.

This play area is being funded from £200,000 developers’ contributions via Wokingham Borough Council, with £57,000 additional funding from Woodley Town Council.

It is expected to be open to the public later this year.
