A MILLION pound veterinary practice is set to open in Woodley.

Vet’s Klinic is planning to open its second business after signing a 10 year deal for a unit in Headley Road.

The 7,024 squar foot unit will have four consultation rooms, an operating room, digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, dental suite and advanced anaesthetic monitoring.

It will also include a cattery and isolation cattery, kennels and isolation kennels, waiting rooms and a dispensary.

Laura Shears, managing director of Vet’s Klinic, explained how the new practice will incorporate the same state-of-the-art facilities as its Swindon practice.

“Ten years after establishing the Swindon Klinic, which is now one of the biggest single site practices in the area, we are looking to open further practices and Reading is the first," she said.

“We are quite a different practice in the way we operate and the way we look, and we are also committed to affordable pet care.

“We are also transparent about pricing and operate a flexible approach, so when a client books an appointment online, the price paid is based on how busy we are – so if you book in advance and are the first person to book in that session, you pay the lowest price.

"We’re looking forward to bringing this innovative approach to the Reading Vet’s Klinic.”

The company is investing £1 million in the Reading facility after securing financing from Mobeus – now Gresham House – as part of its ambitious expansion plans on the M4 corridor.

Other unique facilities include a glass-fronted prep room, which enables owners to see the vets and nurses at work; secure online access to pets’ medical records, which feature photos and videos as well as all the vet’s clinical notes; and a unique online booking system that enables clients to access lower online prices when booking and paying in advance for routine care.

Tendering has already started for fit out and it is hoped Vet’s Klinic will open late summer 2022.

Once it is fully operational, there will be 10 full-time equivalent staff on site.

Claudia Gasparro, LCP asset manager, said: “Headley Road East is a great location as it is easily accessible and Base 329 also has plenty of customer parking, making it convenient for pet owners.

“The plans we have seen for the interior look amazing and we’re looking forward to seeing it come to life over the next few months.”
