New signing Terell Thomas is hoping his experience fighting relegation with former club AFC Wimbledon can help Reading’s battle to avoid the drop.

Thomas signed a contract until the end of the season this week after impressing on trial.
The centre-back played for the Under-23s side while training with the first team, previously playing 13 matches in League One for Crewe Alexandra earlier in the campaign.
Speaking with the media ahead of the Royals’ difficult trip to Barnsley, Thomas said he was ‘very positive’ when reflecting on his stay in Berkshire.

He continued: “I’ve really enjoyed the last couple of weeks, I feel it’s given me time to settle in before signing the contract. Everything has been good, everything positive so I’ve got to kick on from here. I got the opportunity to come and train and the club have decided to give me a contract. I was happy to sign it, I’m happy here and I’m just trying to improve my game, help the lads and hopefully do my bit of the pitch too.

“I’ve got the opportunity to show everyone that I’m a Championship player- this is my first time in a Championship squad so I’m relishing the opportunity.
“Coming from AFC Wimbledon where we were down the bottom its something I’m not unfamiliar with and knowing what is needed day-in-day out to be ‘successful’ to stay in the league and achieve the objective of staying in the division. It’s something I’ve got experience in.”

Yet to register an appearance in the matchday squad, Thomas could be involved in some capacity on Saturday, in the crunch match with relegation rivals Barnsley.
Despite the pressure on the team to get a result, Thomas insists it is just another game.
He added: “. I’ve seen them through the games, we’re becoming more resilient now, so it’s about picking up enough points.

“I’d love to be involved but off of the back of the team winning and picking up a clean sheet against Blackburn it’ll be good to keep the flow going. On paper you think they’re just behind us but there’s still eight games to go. You’ve got to take it game by game, you can’t think that this is the one.
“Every game is like a Cup Final now and we’ve got to take that mentality into every game.”
