A Bracknell man who dodged a £2.10 rail fare to Reading has been ordered to pay more than 207 times the cost of the ticket.

Renato Da Silva, 21, of Mount Lane, arrived in Reading without the ticket on August 27, 2021 with the intent to avoid payment, Reading Magistrates Court found.

The judge at the sentencing on March 4 fined De Silva £220 and ordered him to pay compensation to Great Western Railway of £2.10.

Da Silva was also ordered to pay costs of £180 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.

He must pay the total £436.10 by April 1.
