Today (Thursday) is St Patrick's Day, and pubs across the country are putting on Irish-themed parties and deals.

If you're looking to celebrate occasion, which has been observed for more than 1,000 years, then here's where you can do so in Reading.

The gastro-pub is advertising what it calls the ‘best St Paddy’s Day party around.’

There will be live music, food and limited edition Pot of Gold Bombs at two for £7.

Punters are encouraged to put on their best St Patrick’s Day fancy dress and head down for a Guiness – and If you’re named Patrick or Patricia, you’ll get a pint for free.

Also on offer are two cocktails for £11 and St Pat’s bottomless brunch.

The Gateway

Reading Chronicle:

This classic Irish pub will giving away free shamrock’s and Guiness Hats to anyone getting their special Irish Breakfast tomorrow.

From 11am to 1pm, you can enjoy traditional Irish dishes including holly roast and Irish Lamb stew for just £6.95 and add an apple pie for £3.

The jukebox will be free all day for Irish tunes before the O'Gara School of Irish Dance take to the stage at 6pm.

From 6pm, flute, pipe and fiddle players will be filling the pub with Irish charm, so get on your best green outfits and head down.

The Boundary

It may not be an Irish pub but it will be hosting an Irish-themed party on Saturday from 9pm to 2am.

There will be offers on Jameson, Ginger & Lime, and plenty of Guinness in the taps in the run up to the event.

The venue is decorated in an Irish theme and guests will be handed free Guinness hats
