Homeowners have been busy submitting plans to make extensions and improvements to their homes in Reading this week.

One owner has applied to build a substantial two storey extension to their home in the Mapledurham area of Caversham, and another owner has applied to demolish their garage to fit in a new extension in Coley.

Closer to the town centre, the owners of an office have applied to convert it into an apartment.

Two storey extension in Mapledurham (220174)

Charles Webb, the owner of 17 Shepherds Lane in Mapledurham, has applied to build a two storey rear extension to the home.

It already has a dormer, with the new extension providing a third bedroom upstairs, which would come with an ensuite.

The house currently has a downstairs bedroom, with the extension also providing a combined kitchen and family room.

Additionally, Mr Webb has applied to build a front porch.

Extensive works including garage demolition in Coley (220196)

The owner of 1 Froxfield Avenue in Coley, Joe Gajeckyj, has applied to make extensive works to the house.

The plan involves demolition of the existing garage and utility room to make way for a new garage that would be attached to the home, and an extension which would go over the new garage and extend to the rear of the home.

The extension would provide for a new dining and family room on the ground floor, and an third bedroom on the first floor, with the home having two bedrooms currently.

Dormers would also be added to each side of the existing roof.

Office conversion into flat in Southampton Street (220204)

The owner of 87 Southampton Street has applied to convert a vacant office into a two bedroom apartment.

Both bedrooms would be double, so could fit a total of four people if needed.

The new occupants could make use of a shared bathroom and toilet, and a kitchen living room.

The current building is located just a short walk from The Oracle and the town centre, with one car parking space provided for any new occupants.
