AMAZING before and after pictures show the incredible transformation of a run-down site set to be the new home of street food in the town centre.

Blue Collar Food is set to move into a permanent site made out of shipping containers on Hosier Street.

Appropriately named ‘Blue Collar Corner’, the previously derelict location will become a bar and street-food arena every Thursday to Sunday.

Hungry residents will be spoilt for choice with fried chicken, Neopolitan pizza, bao buns and vegan tacos on offer, as well as other street food traders that will be rotating at the site.

It will also include rooftop views from its top-floor seating and DJ sets to create a party atmosphere.

Work on the site has been progressing for months but now Blue Collar has revealed when residents can tuck in to some tasty treats.

Blue Collar Corner will open on Saturday, March 12.

It will be open from 11am to 10.30 pm Thursday to Saturday and from 11am to 8pm on Sundays.

Those familiar with Blue Collar will know the foodies host a market at Market Place every Wednesday and Friday lunchtime.

And their new venue, which will be a permanent site, has been six years in the making.

Built out of shipping containers, ten beer lines and cocktails, wines and spirits will be sold from the arena.

The venue, which has four kitchen, features two floors with seating on the top floor as well as DJ sets.

Rotating food traders will operate from the front of the site.

Blue Collar first made its mark on the town in 2016 when bosses set up a street food festival at Forbury Gardens.

A weekly market was set up at Market Place the same year and in 2019 Blue Collar become traders at Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium.

Drive-thrus were set up in 2020 as lockdown hit England and Blue Collar added a Friday slot to its Market Place setup.

An intro on Blue Collar’s website read: “In 2022, it finally happened - after two years of negotiating contracts, waiting for planning permissions and building the site, we opened our first permanent venue: Blue Collar Corner.

“Open from Thursday - Sunday and built out of shipping containers, it features 4 kitchens, 2 floors, 1 bar and rotating food traders out the front.

“Above all, Blue Collar Corner finally gives Reading a place to permanently find the type of street food that we fell in love with back in 2016.”
