A FORMER Reading FC player tipped for big things has been fined after breaking the speed limit on the M4.

Thierry Nevers, who joined Premier League West Ham United from the Royals in May 2021, was caught going at 63mph near Hillingdon on July 14, 2021.

This was when the motorway was under a strict 50mph temporary speed limit due to roadworks.

Nevers, who is 19 and from Severn Way, Tilehurst, was driving a 2019 Volkswagen at the time of the incident.

Nevers, who can play across the forward line, was tipped as a hot prospect while at Reading FC despite never making an appearance for the senior team.

Despite this, Nevers had a good record for the Royals’ youth teams, scoring 19 goals in 65 appearances.

Upon signing for the Hammers last year, West Ham academy manager Ricky Martin said: “Thierry is someone that we’ve been following for the last couple of seasons.

“He’s put in some very impressive performances, and we’re really excited to introduce him to the U23s squad.”

In February 2021, Reading FC goalkeeper Jokull Andresson, 20, of Rushley Way, Reading, was caught exceeding the speed limit on a 30mph road in Exeter.

The Icelandic shot-stopper did not appear for a court hearing at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, October 30.
