PLANS for a film production studio which will create 250 jobs in Winnersh have been submitted to Wokingham Borough Council.

The first phase of proposals include two stages and several workshops, which came as developer also Stage Fifty agreed 50,000 square feet of offices.

Major film production companies MGM and Sony Pictures will be filming during at the newly named Winnersh Studios this year.

Commercial Director of Frasers Property UK, which owns Winnersh Triangle business estate, Rupert Batho said: “Last year was a transformational one for Winnersh Triangle and the achievements secured set the direction of travel for the years ahead.”

By the end of 22, the studios will include the world largest virtual production stage – technology which replaces green screens and has been used in Venom: Let The Be Carnage and The Mandalorian.

Announcing their intention to invested in Winnersh Triangle in November, CEO of Stage Fifty James Enright said: “Winnersh Triangle is the perfect site for our second film studio in the UK.

“In partnership with Fin Studio Pictures, we’re building the world’s largest virtual production volume, which will be the centrepiece of our pioneering creative tech hub.”

The 140 million-pixel screen will allow producers to make film worlds by mixing graphics, VFX, animation and live footage at once.

Winnersh Triangle has become a business park with business from a variety of sectors including Healthcare and Science through to Technology and Engineering.

2021 saw Berkshire Medical Clinic move in alongside Tepeo, who design and develop zero-carbon domestic heating solutions.

Pip Studios, a post-production audio company for films, television shows and games, is located at the site.

Signing the lease with Stage Fifty, Mr Batho said: “It joins the likes of Pip Studios, Virgin Media and Evertz, thus expanding our technology enriched, creative industry cluster and provides the film industry with much needed capacity here in the UK."

BMC Software re-committed its future to Winnersh by leasing alternative office space and Evertz and Sequans both expanded.

The office and technology park, on Eskdale Road, received a two-star Fitwel accreditation, which assesses all site outdoor and communal areas accessible by all occupiers.

In total it encompasses 1.5 million square feet.
