Reading FC midfielder John Swift has been the subject of multiple deadline day approaches from Championship clubs. However, the Chronicle understands that the midfielder has rejected their advances, choosing to stay at Reading.
There has been Premier League interest in Swift as well but firmer enquiries were made on deadline day by three top-end Championship clubs. Swift though, has decided not to pursue the interest and instead stay at Reading.
The midfielder's contract expires in the summer and it is highly likely he will depart then. Sources with knowledge of the situation have explained that Swift feels "he has a job to finish at Reading" and doesn't want to depart with the club's Championship status up in the air.
Reading currently sit 21st in the table, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Swift leads the Royals in both goals and assists this season, with eights goals and 11 assists.
