A thai restaurant will be the first business to occupy the iconic Jackson’s Corner building in Reading town centre.

Rosa’s Thai Cafe is looking to open in the long closed departments store, with it set to occupy the ground floor unit at the start of King’s Road.

Although it’s billed as a cafe, the London-based chain also serves up Thai cuisine such as curry, stir fry and noodle dishes.

But the opening of Rosa’s is still a way off yet, with the windows of Jackson’s Corner still obscured with promotional branding.

In preparation for coming to Reading, the company has submitted a licensing application to the council.

Rosa’s wants to serve food and alcohol from 11am to 11.30pm on Monday to Saturday and 11am to 10.30pm on Sundays.

This is so it can sell its wines, cocktails, ‘Mekong whiskey’ and ‘Rosa’s Thai IPA’, along with teas, coffees and Chang Thai beer.

Although paper notifications of the licensing application have been posted in the windows of Jackson’s Corner, the application has not yet appeared on the council’s current premises licence applications webpage.

Anyone wishing to make representations has until February 2.

The representation must be done in writing to Reading Borough Council, Licensing Section, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading RG1 2LU.

Rosa’s Thai Cafe has a number of locations in London, and branches in Manchester, Leeds, and Liverpool.
