Here's how the Reading players rated after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hull City...

Southwood: 5/10 - Made a really good save inside two minutes to deny Smallwood before preventing Holmes from scoring an own goal towards the end of the half. However, did not cover himself in any glory whatsoever when he spilled Mallik Wilks’ long-range drive to give Hull the equalising goal.

Yiadom: 6/10 - Not the best we’ve seen him play this season. He didn’t get forward as often as he normally does and was very nearly caught out at the far post by Malik Wilkes early in the first half. He was substituted at half-time which we believe was injury-related.

Holmes: 8/10 – Amazing moment from the boyhood Reading fan to score his first goal with a stunning bicycle kick. Was very solid defensively throughout too.

Dann: 7/10 - Solid as usual. Didn’t let much go past him and looked very comfortable whenever he was on the ball.

Rahman: 6/10 - Not a bad display. Should have had an assist in the first half when his cut-back landed perfectly for Carroll who missed the ball.

Laurent: 7/10 - Another high-octane performance. So much energy to press the ball and close the opposition down. Brilliant cushioned header to set up Holmes’ goal too.

Drinkwater: 6/10 - Showed some poor touches here and there but he dictated the tempo well.

Halilovic: 5/10 - Poor performance from the ex-Barcelona man. His passing was generally sloppy and the game seemed to go by him for much of the 55 minutes he was on the field.

Swift: 5/10 - A very rare but nonetheless poor display from Royals’ talisman. It just didn’t click for him today. His passing and ball control was very sloppy at times and he just couldn’t get Reading ticking in the final third. He was however desperately unlucky not to be awarded a penalty in the second half.

Dele-Bashiru: 7/10 – Looked a threat from the left wing and was unlucky to be denied a goal in the first half but for a fine save from Nathan Baxter.

Carroll: 6/10 - *Tin hat at the ready * - Pretty poor performance from the big man. Lacked service in fairness but offered very little for most of the game. Had a couple of half-chances in the second half but should have scored early when he completely missed the ball with the visiting defenders seemingly napping.

Tetek: 6/10 – Came on to replace Yiadom at half-time and was solid defensively but needs to be more confident going forward.

Azeez: 6/10 - Came on in second half and did okay. The young forward doesn’t look as much of a threat when he’s out wide but he still managed to get a couple of shots away.
