Robbers took off with £700 in cash from a Reading betting shop after threatening a member of staff with a knife.

Yesterday evening, at around 8pm, the robbers entered the Coral bookmakers with an orange plastic bag in Whitley Street, Reading, and threatened a worker in his twenties.

The first man was wearing a black top, grey jogging bottoms, black shoes and had blue gloves and a face mask on.

The second was wearing a black hooded jacket with white sleeves, black tracksuit bottoms, black shoes, and was also wearing blue gloves and a face mask.

Investigating officer PC Josh Gillespie, based at Reading police station, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the victim, who thankfully was not injured in the incident.

“I am appealing to anybody who was in the area of Whitley Street between 8pm and 8.30pm on Friday and believe that they witnessed this incident to please contact Thames Valley Police.

“I would also be keen to hear from anybody who has dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area to get in touch if it has captured anything that could assist this investigation.
