A woman who made a fake report of rape and who harassed a police officer has avoided going to jail.

Michelle Sallis, aged 37, of Coley Avenue, has been given a suspended prison sentence after she admitted to wasting police time by making up a false accusation of rape.

On November 15, Wycombe Magistrates’ Court heard how Sallis wasted police time when she made a false report of rape to officers in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, between January 30 and February 2.

At the same hearing, Sallis also admitted to harassing a police officer, Police Sergeant James Harper, who was based in Aylesbury, by writing him multiple letters and attempting to reach him via the police control room between January 11 and January 20.

After hearing her guilty pleas, the magistrates gave Sallis a four-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months. She was also issued with a restraining order against PS Harper.

Additionally, Sallis will have to pay £213 in costs to the courts.
