A new fast-food restaurant and takeaway is set to open in central Reading.

Jacks, which replaced the STA travel shop in Friar Street, has put up billboards in its windows.

They read: “We are getting ready… something exciting is coming soon…”

‘Getting ready’ involves the installation of signs and a vent panel to the rear of the building to remove odour, according to a planning application on Reading Borough Council’s website.

The owner of Jacks, which appears to be Zahir Mohamed Kanji according to Companies House, have also applied for a change of use to the property, comments on which can be left on the council website until November 23.

A ventilation plan drawn up by their agent RS Designs seems to provide a rough idea of what the layout of Jacks will look like.
