Police made their seventh arrest in connection with the fatal stabbing of Reece Heffernan in Reading on Halloween.

The 22-year-old from Tilehurst died in Romany Lane on the evening of October 31 from a stab wound to the chest.

In the early hours of Sunday (November 7), an 18-year-old man from Wokingham was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The news comes after a 17-year-old boy from Earley and Hamzah Ahmed, aged 18, of Jubilee Road, Reading, were each charged with one count of murder.

Meanwhile, Umer Arshad, aged 23, of Waterloo Road, Wokingham, has been charged with one count of perverting the course of justice.

They appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court and are scheduled to appear at Reading Crown Court today.

A 29-year-old man and two 19-year-old men, all from Reading, arrested on suspicion of murder have now been released under investigation.
