HUNDREDS of climate activists marched through Reading town at lunchtime.

The demonstration, organised by the Reading Friends of the Earth, wound its way to St Laurence Church from Broad Street at around 1pm today.

People demanded for climate change as they walked through town, where police officers brought motorists to a standstill.

Among the marchers were dozens of schoolchildren with their parents.

MP for Reading East Matt Rodda showed his support for the climate march.

He spoke to the Chronicle and said: "I think it's really important to do our bit to support climate change as well as the COP26 meeting in Glasgow, it's important to have local activity to show our support and how we can all do our bit to help.

"Whether that's cutting down on the amount of meat you eat, switching to electric cars, walking and cycling, it is all impressive."
