Plans to turn a disused dairy farm near Boxford into a race horse training facility have been lodged with West Berkshire Council.

The proposal seeks to build stabling for 45 horses at Upper Farm.

The application site is around 11.6 hectares and the plans include a new stable building, car park, entrance gate and wall, with landscaping for the training.

Upper Farm is a derelict former dairy farm. While the dairy operations no longer exist farming uses continue across the wider site which include arable and sheep grazing.

There are a number of single storey traditional and modern farm buildings which make up the farmyard, as well as an existing dwelling historically linked to the farm.

No changes are proposed to this residence, and it will in future be linked to the proposed use as the ‘Head Lads’ dwelling.

The site is just a few miles from Lambourn and has been submitted on behalf of HDR Ltd.
