POLICE are searching for a woman who was approached by a teenage victim who had just been assaulted in town.

The witness is being sought after the girl was touched inappropriately by a man in the town centre.

It happened between 11.30am and midday on Thursday, September 16.

Thames Valley Police said the teenage girl was approached by a man in Reading town centre. He continued to walk alongside her.

The man made comments of a sexual nature towards the victim before he then touched her inappropriately over her clothing.

Police said the witness approached a woman who was at a parking meter in the London Road area to ask for help.

The attacker told the witness that he was the victim's father, which was untrue.

It is hoped the witness can help police with their investigation.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Siobhan Bradley, based at Reading police station, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the victim, who approached a woman and told her what had happened.

“I am trying to locate this witness, as I believe she may have information that can assist in my investigation.
