Reading will look to put the disappointment of Saturday behind them as they host Peterborough United on Tuesday at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

After taking a 3-1 lead against QPR with just over 10 minutes remaining, the side surrendered and could only hang on for a point in a 3-3 draw.

This makes it just one win in six this season, and two wins in 17 looking back over the end of last season.

Finding themselves 22nd in the league and occupying the final space in the relegation zone, the travelling Posh are sat 23rd after a similarly challenging start.

Darren Ferguson’s side have picked up the solitary win, against Derby County, and shipped six on Saturday to Sheffield United.

With a record exactly matching Veljko Paunovic’s side, it promises to be a nervy encounter with neither side wanting to lose to one of their nearest rivals in the table.

Team News

The injury woes continue for the Royals as, according to reports, goalkeeper Rafael is set for a period on the sidelines, following the likes of Tom McIntyre and Yakou Meite into a long-term absence.

Midfielder Andy Rinomhota missed out on Saturday, however is expected to play some part on Tuesday.

The visitors remain without Mark Beevers and Nathan Thompson in defence.

Head to Head

Tuesday will mark the 50th meeting between the sides since a first battle in 1962, and it is the Royals who edge the head to head with 18 wins to Peterborough’s 17.

This will be the first league meeting between the sides since a 3-1 Peterborough win in 2012, as Reading won the Championship.

The last meeting was an infamous 6-0 defeat at London Road in the 2013/14 League Cup.

However Reading are 14 matches unbeaten at home to Tuesday’s opponents, last losing on home soil in 1976.

Odds

According to Sky Bet, at time of writing, Reading are 5/4 to win just their second match of the season, with an away win being 21/10 and a draw at 12/5.
