Reading FC boss Veljko Paunovic bemoaned his teams defensive display as QPR levelled late on to seal an entertaining 3-3 draw with Reading.

The Royals had led 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from star midfielder John Swift but let the lead slip late on against the Hoops.

Speaking to the media post-match, Paunovic rued a lack of commanding figures at the back in the closing stages.

""We need leadership at the end of games," said Paunovic.

""How things happened today, the result, feels like a defeat. On the other side there were big improvements in our team in attack.

"We managed to be 3-1 up against a team with more confidence than us, but we didn't manage this properly."

"We need knowledge to clear the ball as soon as you can. Playing one-two's is pretty childish, to be honest.

"You have to be more urgent at the end of the games. Some of the players are missing knowledge, some are missing urgency.

"I think this season, defensively, we've been very poor.

"The team has to work together and individually we have to have knowledge and the urgency to defend.

"When they push forward with their full-backs and started to attack us, we still had a couple of chances to convert.

"We tried to put men behind the ball with the substitution, but we didn't perform well in defence."

The Serbian boss confired after the game tha trio Andy Rinomhota, Scott Dann and Danny Drinkwater will be in contention for the Royals in the coming games after missin gout today.

Dann and Drinkwater are still building their fitness, with Rinomhota ruled out today with an acute ankle injury that should be healed in time for the coming games.
