Reading are monitoring the situation of Sheffield United full-back Max Lowe.
The left-back may be allowed to leave the Blades on loan with new boss Slavisa Jokanovic reportedly willing to listen to offers for the 24-year-old.
Lowe arrived at Brammall Lane last summer alongside Jayden Bogle in a £15m joint-deal from Derby County.
He was named in the Blades' squad 33 times last season but only made seven starts as United were ultimately relegated following a difficult second season in the top flight.
The Royals have, as of yet, failed to fill the void left in the defence following Omar Richards' move to Bayern Munich in the summer.
Tom McIntyre has filled the gap so far this season, but the Royals see the left-back role as one of the two major priorities in the transfer market.
Nottingham Forest have reportedly seen a bid for Lowe already turned down by United.
Swansea City are also interested in Lowe.
It is understood that due to the financial situation at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, any move for Lowe will be a loan move.
