A MAN suffered a broken jaw after being punched by two men outside a popular nightclub in Reading at the weekend.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the two men also attacked a woman -- who suffered a cut lip -- outside Pop World on Friar Street at 2.25am on Sunday, August 15.

Both the man and the woman were taken to hospital but have since been discharged following treatment.

Two men have been arrested following the incident.

One, a 27-year-old man from Reading, was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm and racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress.

The other, also 27 from Newbury, was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a controlled drug of class A – cocaine.

Both men have been released on bail.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Maggie Bruce, based at Reading police station said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen this incident, or who may have information about what happened to please come forward.
