Veljko Paunovic has reassured Royals fans that the club is doing everything possible to receive clarification from the EFL about their financial situation.

The club still remains in the dark in regards to what they can do in the transfer window with dialogue still ongoing with the league.

Addressing the concerns once more, Veljko Paunovic confirmed that discussions remain ongoing but confirmed the areas the club would look to improve upon when they receive the green light.

"I can't give you any different updates from the EFL," Paunovic said.

"We're still working with the league, conversations are ongoing, the best I can say is if we're allowed to progress in our financial situation we could have someone coming in. It could be possible this week.

"We can't compare [our situation] to Derby. Probably, their situation was easier to resolve for the league.

"I know everyone wants more clarity but whenever we can say, we will.

"Agents and other clubs are all saying the same thing. This market has never happened.

"Everyone is surprised by the lack of movement and appears to be waiting for someone else to move.

"We believe we have a solid core of players.

"Due to the circumstances, we haven't been able to replace a couple of players but I'm not surprised.

"I signed up for this, I knew what was coming. We're working towards solutions."

Paunovic went on to state that the left-back spot vacated by Omar Richards is a priority for the club, with Reading hoping to sign a 'proven starter' to replace Richards.

Kadeem Harris also remains on trial at Reading, with Paunovic keen on examining the former Sheffield Wednesday man in training over the next week.

The Royals boss also confirmed that he has remained in contact with club owner Dai Yongge over the summer period.

"This summer I have had lots of contact with the owner. He wants to find solutions. Everyone in this club wants to solve this situation.

"Hopefully, we'll get out of it soon. He is still definitely committed and patient, I believe he's proved that so far."
