A MAN was stabbed through the hand and robbed in his car after trying to give directions in Caversham last week, causing police to launch an appeal.

On Friday, July 23, at around 9.40pm, a 37 year old man was driving down Piggotts Road, Caversham, when he was approached by a woman asking for directions.

While the victim was talking to the woman, two men appeared and stabbed the victim's hand. They then stole his phone and his money before fleeing the scene towards Champion Road.

It is believed they then ran onto Mill Road, and then later on to Gosbrook Road.

The first offender is described as a white woman with blonde shoulder length hair, in her mid-twenties and around 5ft 7ins tall. She was wearing dark clothes and a grey top.

The second offender is described as an Asian man in his mid-twenties, around 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a face covering which is believed to be a balaclava.

The third offender is described as an Asian man, also in his mid-twenties, around 6ft tall. He was wearing dark blue clothes and a face covering also believed to be a balaclava.

Investigating officer PC Philip Marchant, based at Reading police station, said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this incident, or anyone who may have information about what happened, to please come forward.
