Two teenage boys, both 14, have been found guilty of murdering Olly Stephens.

The footage, released to the press following the verdict in the trial of the two teenagers accused of Olly’s murder, shows the 13-year-old leaving his home address at 3.34pm on January 3.

He would fight the two boys just ten minutes later at Bugs Bottom, before being stabbed and dying of those stab wounds at 5pm exactly.

The recording, played to the jury during the five-week trial at Reading Crown Court, shows Olly walking towards Bugs Bottom in sliders and without a coat.

Much was made of this fact during the trial, with prosecutor Alison Morgan QC saying in her opening remarks: “If he had thought anything was about to happen would he have worn something else?

"He only thought he was meeting [the girl].

"He had no idea he was unknowingly walking into an ambush at that point."

In her closing statement, on Monday, July 19, Ms Morgan said: “He was wearing sliders and no coat despite it being January third.

"He was doubtless terrified. But he didn't run away, he stood his ground, and he did not allow himself to be humiliated.

"Standing his ground cost him his life."

Reading Crown Court previously heard that Olly was convinced to go to the park by a 14-year-old girl, where he was then “ambushed” by the two boys and stabbed to death.

The court heard both of the male attackers had “grievances” with Olly, while the girl is said to have described any violence against him as “karma” in the run-up to his death.

Jurors were told both of them had “grievances” with Olly for “snaking” them, while the girl is said to have described any violence against him as “karma” in the run-up to his death.

The younger boy, who was 13 at the time, used a knife to stab Olly while the older boy was fighting with him, the court previously heard.
