A GROCERY delivery service has launched making shopping hassle-free for residents in Reading.

Start-up company Gorilla's launched its service on Thursday, July 22, promising to delivery a basket of groceries within 10 minutes to your door.

The licence was approved at a Reading Borough Council meeting on Thursday, July 15 with conditions agreed to reduce the risk of underage sales after concerns were raised by the council and police.

Eddie Lee, general manager of Gorilla's UK, said: "While traditional grocery retail services are only just beginning to integrate digital solutions, at Gorillas we remain true to our motto of ‘faster than you’.

"We are successfully disrupting the weekly grocery shop ritual and shaping new consumer behaviour. We call this principle Need-Order-Get, and we believe that we will quickly become a popular choice for groceries in Reading”.

The service will be working with local suppliers including Two Days Drinks, Thatcham's Butchers, Honesty Bakery and Crafty Cats Brewery so Reading residents can also support local businesses.

Eddie added: "At the same time, we will continue to seek to create new sources of income for local companies, by giving them the opportunity for new distribution channels.

"At Gorillas, we want to bring positive change to the mundane experience of grocery shopping, putting the customer in control of how and when they shop. Changes that bring fun, flexibility, and ease to something that is often considered to be a chore. Resulting in a more fulfilling, fresher, and healthier shopping basket.".

The delivery fee will cost £1.80 and aims to bring your shopping in just 10 minutes.

Gorillas directly employ over 6000 riders, invests in rider safety and say they provide a clean and safe work environment and internal career development program.
