Reading FC remain in the dark over transfers despite the EFL issuing an update in relation to Derby County.

The Rams, like Reading, have been placed under a transfer embargo by the EFL.

A report in The Telegraph has stated today that Wayne Rooney's side will be able to sign as many as five players.

All of these players will have to be free agents on a season-long deal or players available for six-month loans.

Last week, manager Veljko Paunovic told BBC Berkshire that he hoped the club would be given clarification in the coming days in regards to their own position.

The Royals boss said: "I am confident that we will be able to improve the team before the season starts and during the transfer window.

"In the next couple of weeks, we are having conversations with the League.

“The deadline is going to come soon so we can have the right guidance as to where we stand with it.

“We are expecting when we come back from Scotland we will have a much better and clearer picture about what we can do in terms of bringing in people, in terms of re-signing people.”
