A FOOD stall taking Reading by storm hopes to make even more of an impact by raising awareness of mental health.

FINK co-founders James Reid and Lewis Greenwood are raising money for a new street food truck to help open up conversations surrounding mental health.

The duo from Reading serve hungry customers Middle Eastern dishes at the Blue Collar Street Food Market in Market Place every Wednesday and Friday.

Now, they plan to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health and raise money for more mental health charities through their new FINK street food truck.

Reading Chronicle: Lewis and James

Mr Reid spoke to the Chronicle about their latest food venture.

He said: "Raising this £10k is really important for us as it will allow us to channel more of our profits into our mental health mission such as funding mental health counselling for young people in partnership with No 5 Young People.

"Everyone who pledges will be directly supporting a better mental health future for young people in our community. Also, the more pledges we get, the more hot fresh meals we will be providing for Newbury Soup Kitchen which amazing. By supporting the kickstarter people will be feeding someone in need!"

Through their food stall, the pair have encouraged people to make positive steps to improving their own mental health and continue to fight for a better mental health future for generations to come.

Adding: "By backing the kickstarter, people will be shaping the future of an ethical social enterprise. "The Fink Tank will be the building blocks which will allow us to grow and growth = more positive social impact. It will allow us to reach more people with our mental health messaging, battling stigma on the way!"

James and Lewis have both battled with their own mental health and realise what impact it can have on friends, family, colleagues.

Through the sale of their food, 50 per cent of profits go to supporting mental health projects, charities and initiatives.

So far, 6,000 meals have been given to the homeless in Reading, helping them improve their physical wellbeing through eating good food.

As well as this, £7,000 in profit has been used to fund mental health counselling and support services in partnership with No5 Young People and Woking Mind.
