Green Park Village is set to get a Tesco store, with plans submitted to Reading Borough Council (RBC).

The new development of hundreds of homes in south Reading is already home to a school, which opened last year, a community hall and market square, care homes, restaurants and a health and fitness centre.

A new train station – Green Park – is set to open next year, although plans have already been delayed several times.

The area is now also set to get a Tesco Express, with plans to open in 2022.

A Tesco spokesman said: “We’re always looking at the best opportunities to serve customers and we plan to open a new Express store in Green Park Village in autumn 2022.”

Tesco has applied for a premises licence for Tesco Stores, Retail Unit 2, Block H/4, Green Park Village, Reading RG2 6AB, to sell alcohol from 6am to midnight and provide hot food from until midnight.
