A SUSHI restaurant in Newbury town centre has been bestowed one of the highest food awards in the country this week.

Sushi Maki, which can be found on 21 Market Place, Newbury, has has been issued a Good Food Award Gold Seal for 2021 - this is the highest accolade that the Good Food Awards can bestow on any eatery.

The Japanese-style eatery have been award winners of the Good Food Awards for every year consecutively since 2016.

According to their website, the Good Awards decide whether an entrant is a winner based on the quality of their dishes, their ranking against entrants, their consistency of positive feedback, a great hygiene score, and a high score amongst the organisation's own 'policy scorecard'.

The Good Food Awards explained on their website: "Sushi Maki Newbury have now been awarded our highly revered Good Food Award – Gold Seal for 2021.
