A 41-YEAR-OLD was punched unconscious in a shocking attack in Reading on Thursday (June 17).

The victim suffered a head injury and was hospitalised after being assaulted in Redruth Gardens at about 9.55pm.

Thames Valley Police detectives are now appealing for witnesses as part of their investigation over the assault occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm.

The victim, a 41-year-old man, was involved in a discussion with two people.

One of the two, a man, assaulted the victim by punching him, causing him to fall backwards and to become unconscious for a period of time.

The victim sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital. He has since left.

No description of the offender is available at this time.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Jon Morley, based at Reading police station, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information about it.

“This was a serious assault which left the victim needing hospital treatment. If you saw this, or have any information which you think could be relevant to our investigation, please call us on 101, quoting reference number 43210267022.”
