READING town centre is full of eateries for food lovers to enjoy with everything from Italian to Japanese food to tickle the tastebuds.

Restaurants and takeaways closed during lockdown but now many have reopened for customers to dine inside.

During the pandemic, there has been some new additions to Reading's food scene.

We have listed five of the newest restaurants and takeaways that have opened in the town.

Tasty Greek Souvlaki, Market Place

This restaurant has spent its whole life in lockdown after opening on May 18, 2020.

The owner Luftar Rusta and his business partner Anxhelo Mertiri were aiming to open the restaurant last February but a “massive delay” in planning forced them to open later.

The restaurant serves dishes such as chicken and pork gyros (pita wraps), halloumi pita, lamp chops and chicken Caesar salad.

ThaiGrr! Queens Walk, Broad Street Mall

This restaurant with a punny name serves a variety of Thai themed dishes including sides, soups, mains and salads.

This includes chicken green curry, chicken Massaman curry, prawn tempura, spring rolls and pork wonton soup.

Wingstop, The Oracle

Wingstop is located at the Broad Street entrance of the shopping centre and opened last month.

Wingstop offers customers classic wings, boneless wings and tenders, always cooked to order and hand-sauced-and-tossed in fans’ choice of 10 bold, distinctive flavours.

Wingstop’s menu also features signature sides including seasoned fries and freshly-made ranch and bleu cheese dips.

Tortilla Reading, Broad Street

This restaurant opened in 2020 and serves "real California Burritos and Tacos".

There are even DIY Quesadilla kits that customers can use at home to make their own yummy treats.

Donuterie, Queen Victoria Street

A shop that specialises in selling doughnuts has opened up in town.

Donuterie sells doughnuts such as coconut and lime, tiramisu, Kit Kat and kisses and even doughnut bouquets.

It also serves Oreo milkshakes, banana and Nutella milkshakes and iced Lattes.
