CENTURIES ago, when people from the UK moved over the pond to settle in the young United States, they took inspiration from their home when naming new locations.

There are today countless places across the world that share a name - including Reading town.

Our humble town shares the same name as a city in America. And no, Reading in Berkshire is still a town, not a city.

According to 2010 Census Bureau data, Reading in Pennsylvania had the highest share of citizens living in poverty in the nation for cities with populations of more than 65,000.

Like our Reading Football Club, the city in America is also known for multiple sports franchises, all of which have a long history of success creating professional athletes at the highest levels.

Believe it or not, Donald Trump has in fact come to Reading.

Reading Chronicle:

If you were to google Donald Trump, Reading it would take you to his speech held in the American city where he tried to bag himself another four years in the White House.

He said: "Hello, Pennsylvania. Hello, Pennsylvania. We love Pennsylvania. Great education. And also, hello, Reading. We know it well. We know it well. Three days from now, we are going to win the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and we are going to win four more great years in the White House."

The American singer-songwriter shares the same town name with us and a recent TikTok video went viral after a girl shared what it was like to live in Taylor Swift's childhood home.

In the video, she said: "78 Grandview Boulevard in Reading, Pennsylvania checks all of these boxes and more."
