1. Police spotted searching garden in East Reading

THAMES Valley Police attended a scene in East Reading this week after a man was spotted travelling over rooftops in the area.

A number of police cars were spotted on Blenheim Road, East Reading, at around 2.30pm on May 10, as officers urged the man to come down.

2. First look at overhaul of flats plagued with 'rats the size of cats'

Three tower blocks in Reading which have been plagued by ‘rats the size of the cats’ in recent years are set to be refurbished by the council, with plans submitted this week.

The makeover of the three blocks of flats on Wensley Road, Coley, is the second phase of a scheme from Reading Borough Council (RBC) which includes the development of 46 flats and two play areas in the area, approved in August 2020.

3. Reading grandmother scoops up more than £1 million in latest lotto jackpot

A grandmother celebrating a £1 million Lotto win has described how her grandson presented her with a “sweet shopping list” including a dog and a playhouse.

Di Foster, from Reading, Berkshire, said that the win will provide security for her and her two daughters, lunchtime controller Kelly, 27, and 23-year-old waitress Jodie.

4. Matthew Barber is the next Thames Valley police and crime commissioner

MATTHEW Barber is the next police and crime commissioner for the Thames Valley area.

The Conservative candidate won with 313,148 votes.

Labour's candidate Laetisia Carter came second with 233,446 votes.

5. Reading FC duo Omar Richards and Tom McIntyre contract latest

Further details have emerged about contract offers for Tom McIntyre and Omar Richards.

The club have confirmed that both of the players have been offered new deals at the Madejski Stadium.

Speculation had been rife on social media that Richards could be set for a surprise stay at the club, despite his links to Bayern Munich.
