HEARTBROKEN friends of a 'heroic' dad from Reading who died from Covid-19 are raising money to support his family.

Brajesh Shukla, an IT professional from Reading, moved to India in February to take care of his mother during the coronavirus crisis.

Sadly, Brajesh contracted the virus and passed away on Wednesday, April 28, leaving behind is grieving wife and two children.

A fundraising plea has been set up by his closest friends and relatives to support his wife Rachna and two sons cope with this "unbearable loss".

Siddharth Shukla who set up the fundraising page said: "Brajesh, an accomplished IT professional temporary moved to India from UK this year February to take care of his mother during Covid times. Contrary to his expectations of a new phase in personal life, he was diagnosed with Covid on 17th April 2021 and passed away on 28th April 2021.

"It is with deep regret and profound sadness we announce the sudden demise of our beloved friend and ever-smiling Brajesh Shukla. The friends in Reading and UK/India, Brajesh's work place and family have come together to set up this fundraising page. This is to help Mrs Rachna (Brajesh's wife) and 2 children cope with this unbearable and unprecedented loss."

So far, £14,009 has been raised out of the £25,000 to help support his wife and children.

All of the proceeds donated by kind members of the public is "appreciated no matter how small", explains Siddharth.

The page further says: "Whilst all of us are in our own difficult times now, it would be greatly appreciated if you can donate anything possible, to help shape his family and his kids’ future. We will further update on this page about what happens next and all funds will be sent to Brajesh's wife bank account."
