The new hound trailing season is getting off to a slow start with few fixtures coming forward.

First up was Kirkstone as the seniors saw Denise Bland’s Huntsman’s Novice take the spoils from kennel-mate Jenny’s Quest, with Alan Blacklock’s Lillian third.

In the pups, Stanley and Carole Jackson’s Charisma held on to beat Denise’s pair Huntsman’s Quantum and Huntsman’s Que.

The all-in trail produced a win for Lee and Hayley Wall’s three-year old Denton Balboa ahead of Meadow Spot and Wild Gypsy.

A return to Cobra Castle on Wednesday saw a trip from the east of the county for Bill and Pat Mellon and Wak and Tina Airey worth their while as Cracking Last One took the spoils ahead of Jonty and Evie Moore’s Crazy and Stephen Irving’s Zola.

In the pups, James and Ava McClellan’s Duchess Ava dominated to pip Jonty and Evie’s Another Try and Ian Donaldson’s Huntsman’s Quartz. The open maiden was won by Brian and Erin Rowlandson and Joe Fearon’s Blue Diamond ahead of Brian and Joy Lister’s Imagine with Robyn, Ellie and Grace Napier’s Foxparke Just Got It third.

Saturday saw the final of the Oulton series where Cracking Last One won for Bill, Pat, Tina and Wak ahead of Reg Smith’s Acorn and Caroline Clough and Barry Laidler’s Best Mate.

Laura Steele and Andrew Bulman’s Jue’s Pride won the pups with Martin and Molly Burrow and Joanna Satterthwaite’s Thorn Bell with Les Reid’s Ann in third place.

The open non-winners saw delight for Team Foxpark (Robyn, Ellie, Grace and Brooke) as Foxpark Gooie Louie took the victory ahead of Jenny Horn’s Spring Music and Ashleigh Horn’s Intensity.

The open restricted saw Bill, Pat, Tina and Wak taking a double on the day as Cracking Spirit pipped Anne and Mal Reay’s Zulu with Laura and Andrew’s Babyliss third.
