Several people who failed to pay their rail fares and subsequently neglected to pay up after being asked to appeared in Reading Magistrates Court last week.

Some of them paid huge amounts worth several times more than the fee they were originally supposed to pay.

4. The boy-racers 'ripping up' Prospect Park on their go-karts

Boy-racers ‘ripping up’ Prospect Park are ‘intimidating’ locals who want to relax in the green space, a resident has claimed.

Iain Marsh, from West Reading, has filmed the racers driving quickly around Prospect Park on two occasions in the past week.

The youngsters appear to be using go-kart-type off-road vehicles and mopeds.

Celebrity Comic Ricky Gervais has been spotted filming the latest series of Netflix show After Life this week.

The Reading-born celebrity, who grew up in Whitley, was not too far from his old stomping ground while filming across the border in neighbouring county Buckinghamshire.

Local fans of the dark comedy-drama will already know that the Beaconsfield area features heavily in the first two seasons – and the third is set to be no different.
