KNIFE scanners and police officers have been spotted at train stations in the area.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) West Berkshire tweeted pictures yesterday showing knife scanners had been set up in the Reading and West Berkshire area.
The force said: "The Pangbourne Neighbourhood Team have been working with our colleagues from Reading today to carry out several knife Arch operations around the West Berkshire & Reading area."
The knife arches can be seen at train stations including Reading West.

TVP has joined forces across the country to take part in Operation Sceptre - a national week of action designed to challenge and reduce the threat of knife crime across the Thames Valley.
The knife amnesty started on Monday, April 26, and will run until Sunday, May 2, during which members of the public will be able to safely and anonymously dispose of any type of knife or bladed article.

The aims of the operation are to remove dangerous weapons from the streets, reduce knife crime and raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife.
Knife amnesty bins have been placed in Newbury and Reading police stations.
