A new cinema is set to open soon at Broad Street Mall, with a licence application submitted and photos showing the work underway to get the cinema ready.
Reading Biscuit Factory is “a brand new cultural and creative hub in the heart of Reading” and will open its doors to the public this summer.
Owners Really Local Group are repurposing the ground and first-floor unit of the former Argos store to provide a four-screen cinema.

The venue will also include a flexible space for events, a café, a bar, outdoor terrace seating area and workspace.
New photos show the works underway to open the cinema soon, with hopes to open in June.

The licence application was submitted on April 7 and is for sale of alcohol, playing of films, live music and recorded music from 10.30am to 11pm, Sunday to Wednesday, 10.30am to midnight on Thursdays and 10.30am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The cinema had been due to open last summer but this was delayed due to the Covid pandemic.

The name Reading Biscuit Factory was chosen after asking Reading residents to tweet the developers with suggestions.
The winning name was chosen by @thedizneyprince and our very own former Reading-based Local Democracy Reporter Alex Seabrook.
They both won a year-long membership to the cinema.
It pays homage to Reading’s famous Huntley & Palmers biscuit factory.
