THE number of crimes reported in central Reading last month linked to drugs has been revealed.

A total of 47 crimes linked to drugs were reported in the Abbey/Battle area of Reading in February 2021, according to the police.uk website.

The data looks at crime reported in central Reading which roughly covers the area from Norcot to Newtown and the River Thames by Caversham to Tilehurst Road.

This is a rise in reports since January when there were 21 crimes reported that were linked to drugs.

A total of 453 crimes were reported in the central Reading last month.

Crimes linked to violence and sexual offences were the most reported with a total of 113 cases.

Shoplifting was second with 61 reports followed by drugs with 47 reports.

Most of the crimes took place on or near a supermarket with a total of 47 incidents reported there.
