A new Italian deli is set to open just next door to a very similar café and deli.

Mama’s Way is planning to open on Duke Street next to Madoo, another Italian deli which opened in September 2020.

A licence application has been submitted by Mama’s Way Limited to open from 9am to 11pm, sell alcohol and play music.

Mama’s Way is hoping to open by the end of April. The company describes itself on Instagram as an Italian deli with high quality Italian products, eat in, take away and delivery.

Current Italian deli and café Madoo sells similar high quality Italian products as well as serving hot sandwiches and drinks, describing itself as “authentic, simple and delicious”.

Both premises are part of 10-14 Duke Street, with just an offices entrance inbetween them.

The council received the licensing application on March 25 and the closing date for representations for or against the plan is April 23.
