A FURTHER 40 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Berkshire in the past 24 hours.

Public Health England has recorded 40 new lab-confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, in areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.

These figures, correct as of Friday, April 2, at 4.00pm, bring the latest total for the county to 55,742.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:

Reading - 1 case, 10,771 total

Bracknell Forest - 5 cases, 7,011 total

Wokingham - 4 cases, 8,141 total

West Berkshire - 7 cases, 6,304 total

Slough - 15 cases, 15,164 total

Windsor and Maidenhead - 8 cases, 8,351 total

There have now been 4,353,668 people across the UK who have tested positive for Covid-19.

The latest seven-day rate per 100,000 people locally are as follows:

Reading - 35.9

Bracknell Forest - 40.8

Wokingham - 35.1

West Berkshire - 30.3

Slough - 86.3

Windsor and Maidenhead - 63.4

In today's national coronavirus news:

The Government said a further 52 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 126,816.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 150,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 3,402 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,353,668.

Figures for cases and deaths on Friday do not include numbers from Wales, which is not reporting its data on Good Friday or Easter Monday.
