The case rate or rate of infection is the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 per 100,000 over the last seven days and includes a five-day delay.

It has now been one month since Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the UK would go into its third lockdown, with no easing of restrictions currently planned until March 8 at the earliest.

Comparatively, in the three weeks leading up to the January 8 peak, the case rate rose from 436.4 on December 18 to 810.4 on January 8.
