THE funeral of a teenager who was stabbed to death in Emmer Green will be held later this week and people are being encouraged to wear red in his memory.

Thirteen year old Olly Stephens died in Bugs Bottom fields on Sunday, January 3.

An Instagram account called 'Justiceforolly_', which claims to be run by Olly's sister revealed details for her brother's funeral.

A post explained the funeral will be held on Friday, February 5, and Olly and his family will travel from home leaving at 10.55am.

The post said they will be passing Highdown School, St Barnabus Church, Emmer Green Primary School and will travel through Caversham Park Village down the Lowfield Road and onto the Henley Road and up to the Crematorium.

The post said: "Please feel free to line the route as your support will be welcomed and very much needed.

"On All Hallows Road Olly's car will slow down so that single red roses can be thrown gently onto the vehicle, if you so wish."

Ahead of the funeral, The Flower Shop in Caversham will have single red roses available on February 4 with a suggested donation of £1 for people to collect between 10am and 4pm.

The Instagram post explained: "The money raised will go to a local group called "Parenting Special Children" whose training courses and information were invaluable to Olly's parents, as he was diagnosed with Autism in November last year."

People are being encouraged to wear red as this was Olly's favourite colour.

People who wish to pay their respects on All Hallows Road are being asked to keep the road and Crematorium car park clear and park in the surrounding areas.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions people are reminded to keep to the social distancing rules and to stay safe. The service will be restricted due to current regulations.

The family has requested floral tributes from family and close friends only but people can make a donation to Olly's GoFundMe page here.

The social post continued to explain that Olly's floral tributes along with any red roses will later that afternoon be moved to Bugs Bottom where the family are planning to light the area with tealights.

A 13-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named, are charged with murder and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm in connection with Olly's death.

The girl was also charged with perverting the course of justice.

The trio are facing a murder trial in the summer over Olly's death.

They will next appear at a pre-trial hearing at Reading Crown Court on February 4 and a provisional trial date has been set for June 21, also at Reading Crown Court.
