A new Thai restaurant at Broad Street Mall with a clever pun name is coming to Reading.

ThaiGrr! will take up unit 1D at the shopping centre on Queens Walk, after the application for new signs at the empty unit was approved on Thursday (January 28).

The restaurant’s logo – which you can view here – features a hungry tiger getting ready to eat a bowl of white rice.

The name is a humorous play on Thai, tiger and the sound ‘grr’, which is an onomatopoeic representation of the sound a tiger makes.

Eat in, takeout, and delivery will be available, depending on Covid-19 restrictions, when the restaurant opens.

Currently, only takeaway and delivery is allowed, with England in lockdown.

A new bowling alley, mini-golf and darts venue and a cinema are also planned at other empty Broad Street Mall units on Queens Walk.

The new cinema will be based in the former Argos unit, above the new Iceland, on the corner of the Oxford Road and Queens Walk.

The bowling alley, mini-golf, and darts venue, called Bunker, will also be based at the former Argos unit.
